NETHERLANDS INTERNATIONAL CRICKETER; STEPHAN MYBURGH SHARES HIS FAITH
A big thank you to Stephan for being the first pro cricket player to share his faith with us. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler. On 21 March 2014 against Ireland, Myburgh equalled the record of the second fastest fifty in Twenty20 International with Paul Stirling of Ireland.
1) When did you start playing cricket?
I started playing cricket at a very young age with my brother, I was only 4 years old. It was important for my dad; that children should play sport and be active. I guess I just loved the game so much that from a young age I had a dream to play in a world cup and that's why I am still playing it today, I love it!!!
3) What has been your highlight in your cricket career?
My highlight in my career must be playing in the T20 World Cup 2014 and then getting named in the team of the tournament.
5) What is your favourite bible verse or one that the Lord has placed on your heart at the moment?
Jeremiah 29:11 (It is the verse that always gets me to stay positive)

2) Which cricket player do you love to watch?
I actually have 2 favourites, both have now retired. The first one is Matthew Hayden and the other Andrew Hudson, both are also known followers of Jesus and played a massive role in me following them as role models.
4) Can you tell us a brief bit about how you came to know the Lord?
I have been blessed to grow up in a Godly house and my mother especially has played a massive role in me knowing the Lord.
6) What is the most difficult thing about being a Christian cricket player?
For me the most difficult thing about being a Christian cricket player is that I miss out on going to church. Playing in a team where there are not many Christians makes it difficult when you go on tours. Whilst being on tours this means you don't get to go to church as much as you want and it is also difficult to have fellowship with others.
